The Mastercard Foundation Fund for Rural Prosperity team has been assessing the performance of the Fund as whole in terms of women participation.
The activity has involved a comprehensive portfolio analysis around Gender workstreams for the period between 2018 and 2020, with the objective of generating insights in relation to provision of financial products and services to female customers by Fund participants.
A summary of Fund performance is provided below:

The results show that dependent on business models being deployed by Fund participants, some are having strong results on supporting women. The Fund overall has supported the creation of financial products and services for women valued at $232 million, and has 2.4 million female customers using the products. 1.1 million new female customers signed on to the products in the assessment period, and over 750,000 women have received financial literacy training. Within its portfolio, the Fund has supported the creation of 1,691 jobs in the period. However, as can be seen from the above, the individual results are still under 50% of the totals achieved.
The Fund will be publishing a more detailed gender workstream report covering its findings in due course.
