We gave Fund team members the opportunity to say a few words about their experiences working on the Fund. Here is how they responded.

smita.pngThe Mastercard Foundation Fund for Rural Prosperity had an initial objective of reaching one million financially excluded people. After seven and a half years, the Fund has surpassed this through stimulating innovation and scaling of products and   services by financial service providers and now reaches over five million customers. As the Engagement Partner for the Fund, I am delighted to witness the impact by our portfolio of 38 private-sector businesses in Sub-Saharan Africa.

I am especially proud to have had the opportunity to lead and work with a strong team that have managed this portfolio, including our partners, who have all played a huge role in successful implementation throughout the Fund journey. The   participant accomplishments clearly indicate that financial inclusion is crucial, as ultimately, millions of lives are being transformed through their work.

wilson.png It has been an incredibly amazing journey working for the Mastercard Foundation Fund for Rural Prosperity, with various partners and participants who   developed financial products that have led to the transformation of the lives and livelihoods of over 5 million rural customers.

Over the Fund period, I conducted various site visits and experienced first-hand the transformational journey of the smallholder farmers before and after the   impact created by the Fund.

nashipae.png Working for the Mastercard Foundation Fund for Rural Prosperity has been an incredibly fulfilling journey as we   have supported our portfolio of participants to make a huge impact in Sub-Saharan Africa, by transforming lives of   smallholder farmers and the rural poor, reaching over 5 million customers to date.

I have enjoyed playing a part in executing the competitions and further interacting with various participants,   capturing their journeys with the Fund, providing opportunities for them to tell their stories as well as sharing on the   overall Fund journey. At the end, storytelling is integral to bringing results and impact to life.

I am proud to have been a part of how the Fund supported women   farmers and beneficiaries.

kinuthia.pngHaving worked on the Mastercard Foundation Fund for Rural Prosperity for the past three years, I have gotten an opportunity to go to ‘the field’ and interact with Fund participants and their beneficiaries.

Seeing the real impact the Fund has had in terms of increasing access to finance and employment creation on my visits to Lima Kwanza Limited in Tanzania and Steward Globe Limited in Zambia has been a personal highlight for me.
