The MasterCard Foundation Fund for Rural Prosperity conducted its 2016 Scaling Competition Information workshop at the Habari Maelezo Centre in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on 10 May 2016.
The two-hour session enabled our experts to engage with registrants and interested potential applicants from private sector seeking support for their tried and tested financial products and/or services that have potential for scaling up. Thirty two representatives from various private sector organizations participated in the session.
During the workshop, Gabriel Kivuti, the Portfolio Manager of The MasterCard Foundation Fund for Rural Prosperity, took the attendees through a detailed presentation. He discussed about the success of the inaugural 2015 Innovation and Scaling Competitions, the 2015 winners, how companies can apply for support as well as the eligibility criteria of the 2016 Scaling Competition. This was followed by an engaging question and answer session.
A press conference was also held after the workshop. Journalists from various media houses interviewed Mr. Gabriel Kivuti and the news stories were captured in the best media outlets including The Guardian, The Citizen, Daily News, ITV, TBC, East Africa TV and Radio and Michuziblog.
The 2016 Scaling Competition launched on 14 April 2016 and will close on 10 June 2016.
